cytogenesis
n 1: the origin and development and variation of cells [synonym:
{cytogenesis}, {cytogeny}]

Cytogenesis \Cy`to*gen"e*sis\ (s?`t?-j?n"?-s?s), n. [Gr. ky`tos
hollow vessel E. genesis.] (Biol.)
Development of cells in animal and vegetable organisms. See
{Gemmation}, {Budding}, {Karyokinesis}; also {Cell
development}, under {Cell}.
[1913 Webster] Cytogenic

Cell \Cell\, n. [OF. celle, fr. L. cella; akin to celare to
hide, and E. hell, helm, conceal. Cf. {Hall}.]
1. A very small and close apartment, as in a prison or in a
monastery or convent; the hut of a hermit.

6. (Biol.) One of the minute elementary structures, of which
the greater part of the various tissues and organs of
animals and plants are composed.
[1913 Webster]

Note: All cells have their origin in the primary cell from
which the organism was developed. In the lowest animal
and vegetable forms, one single cell constitutes the
complete individual, such being called unicelluter
orgamisms. A typical cell is composed of a semifluid
mass of protoplasm, more or less granular, generally
containing in its center a nucleus which in turn
frequently contains one or more nucleoli, the whole
being surrounded by a thin membrane, the cell wall. In
some cells, as in those of blood, in the am[oe]ba, and
in embryonic cells (both vegetable and animal), there
is no restricting cell wall, while in some of the
unicelluliar organisms the nucleus is wholly wanting.
See Illust. of {Bipolar}.
[1913 Webster]

{Air cell}. See {Air cell}.

{Cell development} (called also {cell genesis}, {cell
formation}, and {cytogenesis}), the multiplication, of
cells by a process of reproduction under the following
common forms; segmentation or fission, gemmation or
budding, karyokinesis, and endogenous multiplication. See
{Segmentation}, {Gemmation}, etc.

{Cell theory}. (Biol.) See {Cellular theory}, under
{Cellular}.
[1913 Webster]

  • Clinical Trial Generalizability Assessment in the Big Data Era: A . . .
Clinical studies, especially randomized, controlled trials, are essential for generating evidence for clinical practice However, generalizability is a long‐standing concern when applying trial results to real‐world patients Generalizability
  • Generalizability: Linking Evidence to Practice - PubMed
The basic concept of generalizability is simple: the results of a study are generalizable when they can be applied (are useful for informing a clinical decision) to patients who present for care Clinicians must make reasoned decisions about generalizability of research findings beyond a study popul …
  • A Review of Generalizability and Transportability
When assessing causal effects, determining the target population to which the results are intended to generalize is a critical decision Randomized and observational studies each have strengths and limitations for estimating causal effects in a target population Estimates from randomized data may have internal validity but are often not representative of the target population Observational
  • When assessing generalisability, focusing on differences in population . . .
Generalisability is typically only briefly mentioned in discussion sections of evaluation articles, which are unhelpful in judging whether an intervention could be implemented elsewhere, with similar effects Several tools to assess generalisability exist, but they are difficult to operationalise and are rarely used We believe a different approach is needed Instead of focusing on
  • The limits of generalizability: Why good theory can . . . - ScienceDirect
Generalizability is the goal for scientists (both social and natural) In the social sciences invoking generalizability is more problematic as it is often based on assessment of a mainstream population, but may not apply to groups outside of the mainstream
  • A Causal Framework for Cross-Cultural Generalizability
Behavioral researchers increasingly recognize the need for more diverse samples that capture the breadth of human experience Current attempts to establish generalizability across populations focus on threats to validity, constraints on generalization, and the accumulation of large, cross-cultural data sets
  • Examining the generalizability of research findings from . . . - PNAS
This initiative examined systematically the extent to which a large set of archival research findings generalizes across contexts We repeated the key analyses for 29 original strategic management effects in the same context (direct reproduction) as well as in 52 novel time periods and geographies; 45% of the reproductions returned results matching the original reports together with 55% of
  • Examining the generalizability of research findings from archival data
The extent to which results from complex datasets generalize across contexts is critically important to numerous scientific fields as well as to practitioners who rely on such analyses to guide important strategic decisions Our initiative
  • Generalizability is not optional: insights from a cross-cultural study . . .
2 Moving generalizability into the limelight The vast majority of proposals to improve scientific practice sidestep the issue of generalizability, instead focusing on threats to reproducibility (e g p-hacking, publication bias, low statistical power, unavailable data and materials, and lack of replication) [3,19] Those that have directly engaged with concerns about generalizability focus
