carburetor    音标拼音: [k'ɑrbɚ,etɚ]
n. 汽化器;化油器

汽化器;化油器

carburetor
n 1: mixes air with gasoline vapor prior to explosion [synonym:
{carburetor}, {carburettor}]

Carburetor \Car"bu*ret`or\, Carburettor \Car"bu*ret`tor\, n.
1. (Chem.) An apparatus in which coal gas, hydrogen, or air
is passed through or over a volatile hydrocarbon, in order
to confer or increase illuminating power. [Written also
{carburettor}.]
[1913 Webster]

2. One that carburets; specif., an apparatus in which air or
gas is carbureted, as by passing it through a light
petroleum oil. The carburetor for a gasoline engine is
usually either a {surface carburetor}, or alternatively a
{float carburetor} (called also {float-feed carburetor},
or {spray carburetor}). In the former air is charged by
being passed over the surface of gasoline. In the latter a
fine spray of gasoline is drawn from an atomizing nozzle
by a current of air induced by the suction of the engine
piston, the supply of gasoline being regulated by a float
which actuates a needle valve controlling the outlet of
the feed pipe. Alcohol and other volatile inflammable
liquids may be used instead of gasoline.
[Webster 1913 Suppl.]

  • Carburetor - Wikipedia
Since the 1990s, carburetors have been largely replaced by fuel injection for cars and trucks, but carburetors are still used by some small engines (e g lawnmowers, generators, and concrete mixers) and motorcycles In addition, they are still widely used on piston-engine–driven aircraft
  • What is a Carburetor How Does it Work? | Hagerty
Carburetors are used to mix fuel and air together before sending the mix into the engine cylinders for ignition, powering the vehicle The carburetor sits atop the engine block beneath the air filter, and operates using a combination of vacuum power and cable control

Learn how a carburetor works Find out why carburetors are still used in older vehicles and how they compare to modern fuel injection systems
  • What is Carburetor?- Definition, Types How it works
A carburetor’s job is to supply an internal combustion engine with air fuel mixture Carburetors regulate the flow of air through their Main bore (Venturi), this flowing air draws in fuel and the mixture enters the engine via the intake valve
  • What is a Carburetor? | Understanding Types of Carburetors
The fuel system in a vehicle includes a carburetor, which mixes gasoline and air to create combustion Carburetors were commonly used in vehicles until the late 1980s when fuel injection systems became more popular
  • Carburetor | Fuel Injection, Air-Fuel Ratio Ignition Timing | Britannica
Carburetor, device for supplying a spark-ignition engine with a mixture of fuel and air Components of carburetors usually include a storage chamber for liquid fuel, a choke, an idling (or slow-running) jet, a main jet, a venturi-shaped air-flow restriction, and an accelerator pump
  • How does a carburetor work? | HowStuffWorks
A carburetor takes the liquid gasoline from the gas tank and mixes it with air, which then travels to the combustion chamber, where the mixture is ignited by the spark plug
  • What Is A Carburetor? Its Function and How It Works
The mechanical device known as a carburetor is able to precisely mix air, and even when it is cold, it starts or operates at a high speed A carburetor mixes the fuel from the gas tank, ensuring smooth operation and improved horsepower, and the spark plug ignites it
  • How does a carburetor work? - RevZilla
A carburetor is a highly sensitive, precision instrument designed to blend fuel and air in the correct ratio across the rather dynamic operating range of an internal combustion engine

What is a Carburetor and How Does it Work? A carburetor is a device found in the internal combustion engine of a vehicle that is responsible for the mixing of air and fuel in the engine’s intake system It plays a crucial role in providing the proper fuel-air mixture to the engine for combustion
